RISK – Not being secured in the seat during an accident
Troop carriers with side facing bench seats must not be used.
Seatbelts must be maintained and worn at all times when fitted.
Vehicles must have forward facing seats and be fitted with fit for purpose restraints.
Do not transport people using vehicles with side facing seats.

There are 4 main reasons to wear a seatbelt:
- In case of an accident, the seatbelt will prevent you from hitting the windshield or being thrown from the vehicle
- Air bags are much more likely to assist on impact if the seatbelt has kept you in the seat
- It is the best defense against road hazards and aggressive, distracted or impaired drivers
- It is the law
