RISK – Plant not suitable for the lift
See “Using Other Plant as a Mobile Crane” section of the Lifting Operations Procedure for more information.
The operator of the mobile plant must be adequately trained to operate the plant as a lifting device and be able to see the load at all times during the lift. If the load is out of the operator’s view at any time, the lifting process must be directed by a worker with a dogging or rigging high risk work license and the operator must understand dogging signals.
Precision Load Placement
Vehicle Loading Cranes (VLC) can only be used for delivery of loads unless fitted with a proportional control system approved by the manufacturer or verified appropriate by a competent person. A test record and placard must be available as evidence of the test and verification.
Earthmoving equipment must not be used for precision lifting tasks due to the lack of creep control capability and the risk of 'hydraulic drift' or leakage and in general lift items associated with the excavator activity.
