3.2 Nominate the role of a Lift Designer for both pre-contracts and delivery phases

RISK – Incompetent Lift Designers

Roles and responsibilities for a Lift Designer can be found in the “Lifting Operations Responsibilities” section of the Lifting Operations Procedure.

 

 

 

It is the Project Development Manager's responsibility to nominate the Lift Designer (and Heavy Lift Specialist if required) for the pre-contract phase of a Project, and the Workplace Manager's responsibility to nominate these roles for the delivery phase.

 

 

 

The responsibilities of a Lift Designer during project delivery include (but is not limited to):

  • Review and confirm the lift risk categorisation
  • Plan the delivery of lifting operations
  • Document lifts in the lift planning register
  • Ensure all lift plans have been reviewed and authorised
  • Facilitate a re-review of lift plans if anything changes
