RISK – Assuming a service is isolated
Test methods include: Controlled release of stored energy, voltage check, phase indication lights, controlled release of pressure, chocking, pinning or supporting to prevent movement.
Always confirm the electrical test instrument is functioning correctly by confirming it on a known “live” source after testing for energisation.
Relying on a proximity tester could be fatal. Proximity testers cannot be used as a means of proving de-energised.
Electrical control cabinets can have indicators and test equipment installed to identify the presence of electrical energy.
