Utilise your Site Environment Plans (SEPs) and Environment Control Plans (ECPs) to identify the extent of areas to be protected and the controls required. Physical demarcation can include using tape, flagging or temporary fencing.
- Prior to commencing works, heritage sites and their significance must be appropriately communicated to staff.
- Communication includes inductions, toolbox talks, training programs or other events.
- It is important to maintain a good relationship with stakeholders, including traditional land owners and local community groups.
- Items considered to be of heritage significance differ from site-to-site. It is important to always check before starting work.

- If you encounter an item/area which may be considered unexpected, stop work and notify the supervisor.
- Unexpected items may include potential heritage artefacts, protected flora or fauna or contaminated soils.
